Train hits truck in Alabaster

A man has been transported to UAB Hospital after his truck collided with a train this morning.

According to the Alabaster Police Chief, the accident occurred at 9:16 a.m. in the area of Second Place NW, near the Alabaster Police Department, where a pick-up truck collided with the train. 

The driver was found semiconscious and transported to UAB with serious injuries. No other injuries have been reported.

CSX Spokeswoman Carla Groleau says the train was enroute from Waycross, Georgia to Louisville, Kentucky and was carrying 72 auto cars. "There were no reported injuries to the crew, and operations have since resumed," said Groleau.

The cause of the accident in unknown at this time.

An investigation is ongoing.
