BIRMINGHAM, AL - The businesses on Highway 280 at the Mountain Brook Plaza say they've seen less business since the traffic lights were removed.
ALDOT removed the light on the busy 280 intersection last week where Wendy's and Hampton Inn are located.
Taziki's Assistant Manager Zachary Wiley says there's been a noticeable decrease in sales and that sales were down a couple of days. "Particularly during the lunch and middle of the day period," said Wiley.
Crews removed the lights to help simplify and improve the traffic flow, but some think it complicates things.
Wiley is also concerned about the safety about drivers.
"You don't have convenience of a turn signal anymore," said Wiley. "You're having to cross three lanes of traffic at your own risk and I think that risk is a pretty high risk."
