Anglers' ears perk up when they hear of a tournament on Lake Guntersville, including FLW Tour Pro Casey Martin, who travels all over the country.

"This is probably one of the lakes in the country, if not, the best," Martin said.

Martin said that the good popualtion of shad, hydrilla, and spawning flats where fish can easily reproduce makes the lake so attractive to anglers.

"So much grass feeds the ecosystem of the lakes," Martin said.

Martin thinks the best time of the year to catch numbers of bass is June.  But, if you're looking for something bigger, wait a few months.

"If you want a true trophy, January or February is the best month," Martin said.  "It's going to be cool, but that time of year they weigh the most."
