Two Gadsden men were charged with the armed robbery of a convenience store Friday morning.
According to the Etowah County Sheriff's Office, two men robbed the Kangaroo Express at 1747 Rainbow Drive around 12:30 a.m. Friday.
A woman stopped at a nearby red light saw the men run into the store, prompting her to call 911. The woman followed the suspects after they left in a green 1995 Ford Taurus, which was located at Forest River Apartments nine minutes after the 911 call.
Patrick Louis Ray, 19, and Derick Rayshun Williams, 26, both of Gadsden, were arrested and charged with first-degree robbery.
A total of $120 was taken during the incident.
"We are thankful for the information she gave to dispatchers, and appreciate the teamwork of Gadsden officers," Sheriff Todd Entrekin said. "This is just another example of how quickly a crime can be solved when agencies work together."
Ray and Williams are being held in the Etowah County Detention Center in lieu of $50,000 cash bond each.
