Auburn's quarterback race getting heated

Posted: Updated:

Last season Kiehl Frazier and Jonathan Wallace combined for only 1,473 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. These stats are something that Auburn fans would like to forget.

They will be joined in the wide open quarterback battle this Friday when Auburn starts fall camp. Coming to the plains this fall will be Mr. Football Jeremy Johnson and JUCO transfer Nick Marshall.

IT'S A NEW DAY: Auburn's football team moving in together

Johnson was a U.S. Army All-American, and thought to be the future. One thing that's eye-popping about Johnson is his size. Johnson is 6'6" and 215 lbs and according to Auburn fullback Jay Prosch he can "really sling the football which is awesome," Prosch said.

Nick Marshall doesn't have Johnson's size, but the former Georgia defensive back is looking to make up for it with his athleticism. "He's not quit as tall, but he's fast," Prosch said. "He's very agile and he's very smooth out of the pocket and he has a calmness about him."

Good news, Gus Malzahn is now in charge and one of the top quarterback coaches in the country.
