The man they call "Sir Charles" made an appearance in Birmingham today.
Former Auburn Tiger Charles Barkley was at the Harbert Center speaking to the Rotary Club. I spoke with Barkley about a variety of topics. Here are some of the highlights:
On the ESPN report about Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel getting paid for autographs: "We all make mistakes when we're young. But he clearly is dead in the water, more than likely."
On the NCAA: "I don't have a lot of faith in the NCAA. They're really not the nicest, best group in the world."
On Cam Newton's collegiate scrutiny vs. Manziel's scrutiny: "I think what Cam went through was worse."
Barkley also gave us his take on Auburn basketball and Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs.
