Alabama practiced indoors today for their final round of two-a-days. The Tide will hold their last scrimmage of fall camp on Saturday.
One area of concern from last weekend's scrimmage was the offensive line not getting enough push, not playing with enough power. Nick Saban has started experimenting, Arie Kouandijio is working at right tackle, and Austin Shepherd at left guard. "It's kind of like cooking," Saban said. "If you have bad ingredients you get kind of bad results, if you got quality ingredients, you get quality results."
Both Arie and Shepherd are smart and versatile "Arie came here as a tackle and a very good right tackle," Arie suffered a knee injury causing him to lose some mobility, and that resulted in a position change. "Now he has kind of regained all of his mobility, and he is probably the next best tackle on our team."
"Shepherd could be a guard or a tackle. To me you get the best guys on the field, in the best spots, is the best chemistry."
Alabama opens the season in the Georgia Dome versus Virginia Tech.
