BESSEMER, AL -

Lynn Knippers and her mother run Rebecca's Fine Jewelry in Bessemer.

Last week she ordered a 5 carat diamond bracelet for one of her customers.

"I had a customer that lost her bracelet.  She came in and we're doing a replacement for her and I ordered the bracelet," Knippers recalled.

The original price tag stood around $27,000.

Unfortunately, it was on Flight 1354 when the UPS cargo plane crashed near the Birmingham Shuttlesworth International Airport Wednesday.

A trail of mail cargo was scattered all over crash site.

Knippers said the company which sold her the bracelet was told the jewelry was lost.

Fortunately the item was insured and Knippers received a replacement bracelet Friday morning.

"I knew they would replace it but it's like I've told everyone, I would gladly give up the sale, give up anything.  Not worried about my bracelet if those people could have lived," Knippers said.

The US Postal Service has told us much of 1,500 pounds of mail it had onboard was intact.

Friday morning, crews were on site loading parcels onto a UPS truck.

However, it is unclear how much of the UPS cargo was recovered.

The National Transportation and Safety Board have told us to direct questions about the mail to UPS.

So we did that.

But a UPS spokesman told us Friday that all cargo information would have to come from the NTSB.
