CHEROKEE COUNTY, AL -

A former employee of the Cherokee County Detention Facility was arrested yesterday for promoting prison contraband.

Rebecca Alyse Cuddy, 33, of Centre, served as a Corrections Officer at the facility before resigning her position.

She was charged with third-degree promoting prison contraband, which is a misdemeanor.

Cuddy was booked into the detention facility and released on $500 bond.

The case was investigated by the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office and the District Attorney's office. It remains under investigation.
