Sixteen year Tuscaloosa City Councilman, Lee Garrison will now chair the Tuscaloosa City School Board.
In a speech to his supporters Lee Garrison said he wants unity on the school board and throughout the city.
Garrison said he wants to get together with the representative of each district and create 60, 90, and 120 day goals the new board hopes to accomplish.
Garrison said the children are his top priority,"I want to take us from good to great. And I want to do it will all seven district involved. It's going to take that. I've seen it on the city council. You can't do anything divided. And if we remain divided on a school board we don't effect pot holes and drainage ditches. We effect children."
The new chair also mentioned in two years he wants voters to pass an ad valorem tax on property that he believes will add funding to local schools.
