It was all about pumpkins in Cullman.
The Farm Y'all Festival was held August 24, 2013, and an Alabama state record for largest pumpkin was broken.
The new record pumpkin weighed 903 pounds and was grown by Trent Boyd of Trent Boyd Harvest Farm in Cullman County.
Boyd broke his previous record of 885 pounds.
Boyd also had a second pumpkin, that weighed 870 pounds.
After the event, Boyd strapped the smaller of his two pumpkins onto a crane, raised it hundreds of feet in the air and dropped it to the ground.
Cullman Mayor Max Townson pulled the cord to release the pumpkin.
Folks on the ground say the impact sounded like a bomb going off, and the pumpkin exploded when it hit the ground.
Children and adults had fun playing in the pumpkin remains and searching for seeds.
