Bobby Joe Wilson, who serves on the council, was booked in the Jefferson County Jail for an incident that allegedly happened last November.
The accusation is from a city employee. The complaint states the victim was confronted by Wilson at a city event where they got into an argument. It alleges the mayor asked them to step inside his office so other employees would not be disturbed.
The report claims Wilson pushed the victim, causing him to lose his balance. Then, the victim said the mayor stepped between them and other employees urged Wilson to leave.
Jefferson County Chief Deputy Sheriff Randy Christian said the incident was reported to Irondale Police when it happened, but the Irondale magistrate would not issue a warrant against Wilson.
Christian said the victim came to the Jefferson County magistrate, asking for a report written by someone who was not involved or affiliated with Irondale.
Christian said Wilson was told to surrender and post a $1,000 bond, which he did Wednesday.
We reached out to the Irondale city clerk. We haven't heard back from the clerk. We also went to Wilson's home and he said he didn't have any comment. He said all questions would be directed to his lawyer.
