The body of a shooting suspect was found in Riverside yesterday.
According to the Riverside Police Department, there was a reported shooting Sunday. When they arrived, officers learned that 43-year-old Donald Littlefield had been shot in the legs. The person suspected in the shooting was Littlefield's stepson, 20-year-old Wesley Westcott.
Westcott and his wife were missing Sunday.
Around 3:30 a.m. Monday, there was a report of a person hit by a train that was identified as Westcott's wife, Christian Stipes Westcott. At that point, Wesley Wescott was still missing.
On Wednesday, Riverside Police, along with help from other law enforcement agencies, organized a search for Wescott. At, 11:30a.m., authorities discovered the body of Wesley Westcott in a pond area down Main Street West in Riverside.
On Thursday, the Riverside Police Department held a news conference to discuss the series of events.
"Our heart goes out to the family members of these two young people. It's a sad way for us to conclude our cases that way," said Riverside Police Chief, Rick Oliver.
The body of Wesley Westcott is currently undergoing an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
