This might be one of the weakest college football weekends that I've ever seen. Still though, it's college football, and there are a couple of pretty good games.
Here are the top ten games of week four:
10. Utah at BYU – 9:15 p.m. ESPN2
What makes college football so special is all the rivalries. The Holy War is no exception. I look for this to be a great late night game.
9. Kansas State at Texas – 7:00 p.m. ABC
How dangerous is this game to Mack Brown's future? Reports are out today that they contacted Saban back in January; another loss on Saturday, and they might be picking the phone back up.
8. Arkansas at Rutgers – 2:30 p.m. ESPN
This game is big for three schools. Arkansas needs to get another win before heading into a brutal SEC schedule. Rutgers already has a loss, and a second loss this early in the season would be setback for a team that won 9 games a year ago. Louisville needs Rutgers to win. Their schedule is already weak, and they need Rutgers to enter that game near perfect.
7. North Carolina at Georgia Tech – 11:00 a.m. ESPN
Neither of these schools are a favorite to win the ACC, but the looser of this game will more than likely be completely out of the mix. Big conference game for both teams, I think it will be a high scoring game.
6. Tennessee at Florida – 2:30 p.m. CBS
Do you remember when this game meant something? Do you remember when this was one of the marquee games of the season? This game used to determine the who won the east, but now its an afterthought. Tennessee got scorched at Oregon and Florida's offense was exposed in Miami. Hopefully this game will be entertaining, but that might be wishful thinking.
5. Boise State at Fresno State – Friday 8:00 p.m. ESPN
This is pretty much the MWC Championship game. Should be a very entertaining game, and a win from Fresno State could make them this years fly in the ointment. It would be a huge blow for the Broncos if Boise loses a second game this early in the season.
4. Michigan State at Notre Dame – 2:30 p.m. Alabama's 13
This could be a season defining game for both of these schools. A win for Michigan State would set them up for a big run. If they win on Saturday I could see them going 8-0 heading into a huge showdown with Michigan. As for Notre Dame, a loss for the Irish would be a 2-2 start coming off a BCS National Championship appearance.
3. Auburn at #6 LSU – 6:45 p.m. ESPN
It's a "New DAY" on the plains, but this is a NIGHT game in Death Valley. Auburn has been impressive under Gus Malzahn. They picked up their first SEC win since 2011, and have really changed the attitude. Still though, LSU is a top ten team playing in a night game in Tiger Stadium. I do think Auburn beats the 17.5 spread, but they would have to have a lot of balls bounce their way to get a win.
2. #3 Clemson at North Carolina State – Thursday 6:30 p.m. ESPN
This game has classic ACC trap game written all over it. Clemson is a BCS National Title contender, and playing a Thursday night ACC road game. I've hear this story before. I do like Clemson in the game tonight, but this is college football and nothing surprises me.
#23 Arizona State at #5 Stanford – 6:00 p.m. FOX
How good is Stanford? We will know about 10:00 p.m. on Saturday night. This is the first test for the Stanford Cardinal, and a chance to prove they belong in the top 5. As for Arizona State who picked up a bizarre win over Wisconsin last week, this is a chance for them to prove they're a legit team. Should be a good one in Stanford Stadium.
