Fred Davenport is a native of Courtland, AL, where he attended R.A. Hubbard High School. Growing up in Lawrence County, Fred was very active with the North Courtland Primitive Baptist Church. Even at a young age, Fred knew he wanted to one day attend Alabama A&M University and eventually go on to report the news.
In 2008, both of these dreams came true. Fred moved to Huntsville, Alabama to attend Alabama A&M University.While living in Huntsville, Fred also became a reporter and photographer for the local NBC station. He is a member of the Gorgeous Gamma Epsilon Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated (BLU PHI) and 100 Black Men of America. Fred graduated from Alabama A&M University in May of 2012 with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Telecommunications and an honor of Cum Laude. Fred joined the Alabama's 13 family in September of 2013 after almost a year at the CBS affiliate in Birmingham and four years in Huntsville.
During his free time Fred enjoys traveling, hanging out, fishing, and working out. He also makes it a point to volunteer with the Courtland and North Courtland Fire Department whenever he is home. If you have a question or story idea for Fred, please feel free to email him!
