After tying it up 14-14 in the third quarter, Birmingham-Southern gave up 14 points to Millsaps in the fourth to lose 28-14 Saturday afternoon on Battle Field at Panther Stadium.
BSC falls to 3-3 overall with its third straight loss, and 1-2 in the Southern Athletic Association, while the Majors remain undefeated at 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the SAA.
The Panthers tied it up at the 10:01 mark of the third quarter when senior Matt Hansard caught an eight-yard pass from senior quarterback Tyson Beacham, and the tie stood until the 9:47 mark of the fourth quarter. Barthelemy scored again, his third of the game, on a four-yard run, and he would cross into BSC's end zone yet again with 2:45 left in the game to put the Majors up 28-14 for the win.
Millsaps quarterback Zak Thrasher was 13-22 with 87 yards and two interceptions. Barthelemy led the rushers with his 264-yard, four-touchdown performance, and Trevor King led the receivers with 24 yards on three catches. Alex Jackson led the Majors' defense with 11 tackles, four of those unassisted.
The Panthers struggled to hold onto the ball today, turning it over four times on fumbles, but still managed to get 19 first downs to Millsaps' 16. The Majors led with 384 total yards, though, to BSC's 334.
