Hijacking a plane, flying around the U.S. for more than a day, and asking for millions in cash. It sounds like a Hollywood blockbuster, but 41 years ago it happened. It all started birmingham.
On November 10, 1972 Southern Airways Flight 49 took off from birmingham. Three hijackers took over the aircraft, and demanded $10 million. The hijackers had the plane flown to multiple locations in the United States and Canada, while they figured out their demands, before finally arriving in Cuba.
