The Kendrick Cherokees ended a long playoff drought in 2012, and in 2013, it seems they have no intention of starting another one.
Kendrick finds itself one win away from a second straight postseason appearance. But they'll have to go through a familiar foe to get there.
Standing in the Cherokees' way is the Spencer Greenwave. The two teams are tied for the third spot in the region. With Manchester already assured of a spot, the Kendrick/Spencer winner gets in, and the loser watches their season end.
"The biggest thing is the cross-town rivalry, knowing that the kids know each other," said Kendrick head coach Jerry Dukes. "I don't want them to get too relaxed because they know the guys that are over there and they know us. We just want them to be able to get intense and play their best for Friday night."
Friday's game is a 4:00 p.m. ET kickoff at Kinnett Stadium. It is also the WRBL News 3 Friday Night Tailgate.
