NEW YORK -

Thanksgiving, the start to the very busy holiday season is almost here.

NBC's PC Mike Wendland has some smartphone and tablet apps that can help make your meal preparation better and easier.

For the iPhone, Wendland likes the free "Bon Appetit Thanksgiving Meal" app. It has 101 recipes, plus tips and how-to instructions. It also provides videos to help make that perfect turkey and all the trimmings.

For both iPhone and Android users, there is the "All the cooks recipes" app which has 150,000 recipes searchable by ingredients. Look under turkey dinners and find all sorts of recipes for fixing the feast to what to do with all the leftovers.

And what's Thanksgiving without the pumpkin pie?

The "Easy as pie" iPhone and iPad app shows you how to create homemade-from-scratch pies, dough and fillings in over five hours of step-by-step video recipes.

If you're looking to keep track of your caloric intake, try the calorie counter app available for Apple, Android, Blackberry and Windows smartphones. You can find the free version or the $3.99 deluxe version on MyNetDiary.com.
