Posted: Updated:
Family and friends said their final goodbyes during a funeral for Maxine Parker Tuesday.

The service was held at Boutwell Auditorium, where many folks came to pay their respects to the well-known city leader.

Birmingham Mayor William Bell delivered  the eulogy at the ceremony, recalling Parker's major accomplishments as a city counselor and  their time spent together.

Because Parker attended and worked at Talladega College for forty-one years, the Talladega College Concert Choir sung a variety of inspirational songs.

Councilwoman Maxine Parker was 69 years old when she died suddenly last Tuesday leaving behind one son.

Her final resting place is in Elmwood Cemetery.

Fred Davenport will have more from the ceremony at 5 and 6 p.m. on Alabama's 13.
