Auburn burglary arrest

Posted: Updated:

On Monday, November 4, 2013 the Auburn Police Division arrested Shaheyne P. Thomas, age 19 from Tuskegee, Alabama on felony warrants charging him with Burglary Third Degree, Theft of Property Second Degree and Probation Violation.

The arrest stems from an investigation of a 911 call to police in which the caller reported hearing a noise outside of their residence, located in the 2000 Block of Lee Road 137. The caller reported seeing a suspicious individual carrying property from a neighbor's residence and getting into a vehicle and leaving the area. Responding officers determined that a residence in the 200 Block of Lee Road 137 had been burglarized and property valued over $700.00 had been taken.

Police were given a description of the suspect and the vehicle. An Auburn Police Officer observed the vehicle still in the vicinity and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle refused to stop and continued to travel along I-85 South into Tuskegee.

The suspect vehicle was eventually stopped in the area of Patrick Street in Tuskegee and one of the occupants, Shaheyne P. Thomas was taken into custody by Auburn Police. The second suspect fled on foot and remains at large. Other Law Enforcement Agencies that assisted with the apprehension of Thomas were the Macon County Sheriff Office, Tuskegee Police Department and the Franklin Police Department
