Update: Woman shot and killed at Best Western in Columbus identified

COLUMBUS, Ga. -

FIRST ON WRBL.com: The woman shot and killed at the Best Western hotel on Macon Road in Columbus Saturday evening has been identified.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan has identified the woman as Brittany Patrice Jenkins, 25, of East Point, GA.

Columbus Police received the a call about an armed robbery and shooting around 7 p.m.  Jenkins was found with a gunshot wound to the back and was transported to the Midtown Medical Center where died as a result of her injuries.

Investigators are still trying to gather information and figure out what led to the shooting.

The Columbus Police Department Robbery/Assault Unit is handling the investigation and is asking anyone with information regarding this incident to contact detectives at 706-653-3400.
