Greg Privett is happy to be back in Birmingham. “I love it here,” he says. Greg is co-anchor of Alabama’s 13 Today in Alabama and Alabama’s 13 Midday. He’s also part of the Alabama’s 13 Investigates team.
Greg is an Alabama native. He grew up in Limestone County. Greg’s parents still live there and his two sisters live nearby.
He has degrees from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and the University of North Alabama. Greg began his TV news career while attending UNA and working at WOWL-TV in Florence. UNA also gave him the opportunity to serve as an intern in the West Wing of the White House. “That was a huge honor for me,” he says. In 1996, Greg worked in the White House Press Office – just behind the blue curtain where President Bill Clinton sometimes held news conferences.
In 2009, the Associated Press selected Greg as “Best Investigative Reporter.” He received the honor after exposing corruption inside the Morgan County Courthouse.
Greg’s anchored the news in Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Huntsville and Wilmington NC. “Birmingham is where I want to be,” he says. “And I’m especially proud to be here at Alabama’s 13.”
