Raleigh will be the seventh city to call a SkyHouse tower home.
RALEIGH, N.C. -
A new high-rise apartment building in downtown Raleigh promises to give young professionals what they want – a towering place to live in the heart of the city.
Raleigh mayor Nancy McFarlane joined developers Wednesday to break ground on a 23-story apartment building, called SkyHouse Raleigh, that will rise in downtown Raleigh.
McFarlane joined officials from Novare Group, Batson-Cook Development Company, and Edison Land LLC at 308 S. Blount Street for the ground-breaking.
The apartment building will have 320 units at the southwest corner of Martin and Blount streets. The complex will overlook Moore Square and City Market.
"The concept was, ‘We're going to build 320 great apartments and then on top of that build a house.. For everyone who lives there, we'll have a pool outside of the house,'" said Jim Borders, the president of Novare Group.
