Saving Grace Animal Rescue is a Christian-based, nonprofit organization that helps others by helping animals.
On its website, the owners say, "We recognize how difficult and overwhelming it can be to rescue and foster animals so that's where we come in. Although we do not have a shelter, we are able to foster animals through a network of volunteers. We also assist people by informing them of some of the resources located in Birmingham, Alabama, that can make their efforts that much easier. We are always in need of foster homes so the more we have, the more SGAR can help. Contact us if you or anyone you know of has the space and desire to take in a homeless pet while we find them their forever homes."
What the rescue involves:
-rescue animals, primarily canines, from situations that are abusive, endangering and neglectful,
-provide necessary veterinary care and spaying/neutering,
-put a stop to animal abuse, neglect and irresponsible breeding,
-provide foster homes for these rescued animals,
-place these rescued animals in permanent adoptive homes,
-inform the public of the importance of spaying/neutering
-inform the public of the resources available within the community and the many ways to offer their help
Anyone interested in a SGAR animal, must complete, sign and date our adoption application and submit it to a SGAR representative for review. Adoption Application.
Vet Reference Check:
A SGAR representative will contact your vet to verify any animals (current or within the past 5-10 years) you have owned have been kept up-to-date on shots, on heart worm preventative (for dogs), and overall been properly taken care of.
A home inspection may be required, but is DEFINITELY performed for any bully breed (Pit bull, Rottweiler, German shepherd, etc.).
A $100 adoption fee is required for all animals. For all animals that are over six months old, they will have all required vaccinations and will be spayed or neutered. For all puppies under six months old, each animal will have had the vaccines allowed by that age and will come with a spay / neuter certificate. (Note: SGAR is not responsible for any pain meds that may be administered at the time of the spay / neuter procedure).
An adoption agreement is required to be signed and dated by all adopters to ensure they understand the responsibilities of caring for the animal they are adopting. Adoption Agreement.
