Bama fans react to Tide playing in Sugar Bowl

TUSCALOOSA, AL - The Alabama Crimson Tide ended up third in the BCS rankings which puts them in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.

The enthusiasm Alabama fans have shown at games throughout the year, may not be the same come the Sugar Bowl.

Bama football fan Dylan Crumbley said, “I'm disappointed, but I'm also thankful. Three out of the past four years isn't bad at all.”

With National Championship hopes crushed after the Tide's lost to Auburn in the Iron Bowl, students are still coping with the reality of the post season play.

“I mean it would be nicer to go to a better bowl, but we can win either way," UA student Ryan Borgerding said. 

“Obviously I was looking forward to us going to the national championship, but I'm okay with the Sugar Bowl this year,” Alabama football fan Amanda Newell added.

The Tide is no stranger to the New Orleans-based bowl game; their last trip to the Sugar Bowl was for the 2008 season.

While some students are obviously disappointed the Tide is playing in the Sugar Bowl some say there is a silver lining.

 “I think it's better for students because the outrageous prices of the national championship tickets makes it a lot more affordable for students to go to the game," UA student Steve Plamondon said. 

According to the bowl game's website, tickets are for sale for about $175.
