ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Dec. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- VanDyke Software, a developer of multi-platform secure terminal emulation and secure file transfer software, today announced the official releases of SecureCRT 7.2 and SecureFX 7.2. On the Windows platform, SecureCRT and SecureFX introduce a dockable session manager for quickly connecting to sessions. New on all platforms is a personal data folder for storing logon credentials separate from other session data.
The new session manager provides an alternative to the applications' Connect dialog, allowing saved sessions to be viewed in a dockable pane. The session manager pane can be positioned on the left, right, top, or bottom of the main program window, or undocked and used as a modeless dialog.
"Our customers often work with hundreds of sessions at a time," said Maureen Jett, VanDyke Software's Product Director. "When working with that many sessions, opening a dialog to connect to or modify a session can be disruptive. The session manager lets you quickly select and connect to sessions without interruption."
Kiran Varnekar, a SecureCRT customer at VMWare, said, "With the dockable session manager, we are able to log in to devices with ease. The new interface saves a lot of time when choosing the devices."
The 7.2 releases also add a personal data folder for storing usernames, passwords, and automated logon information separately from other configuration data. Personal data can now be kept private, while other configuration data is stored on a network drive or in the cloud so that it can be used on different systems or shared with colleagues.
SecureCRT 7.2 adds the ability to quickly zoom a session using the keyboard or mouse (Windows and Mac only) as well as a number of time-saving scripting enhancements. In SecureFX 7.2, SCP now supports Cisco and Juniper devices, and new options have been added to automatically synchronize files and to force ASCII or binary to be used for all files, reducing the interruption of manual prompts.
