Practice continued today for the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa. They're preparing for their Sugar Bowl showdown against Oklahoma.
The University of Alabama announced on Friday defensive lineman D.J. Pettway is re-joining the football program. Pettway and three other teammates were dismissed from Alabama after being charged in alleged robberies back in February.
A University of Alabama spokesperson told the Associated Press Pettway's charges are no longer pending.
Nick Saban addressed the move after Sunday's practice.
"This one person, because he did the things he was required to do, deserved a second chance," Saban said. "D.J. was never a bad guy when he was here. We never had a lot of problems with him in the program before. He did make a horrible decision in being involved with this incident. But his involvement and the severity of his punishment was based on his involvement. Those were the guidelines that were set for him to be able to get an opportunity to come back. Now, no one else has that opportunity."
Alabama and Oklahoma will play in New Orleans on January 2nd.
