Columbus State police looking for armed campus robber

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBUS, Ga. - Columbus State University Police are asking for the public's help in locating a man wanted for an armed robbery inside the campus' gated student living late Monday night.

Police believe a Columbus State University student was robbed by two individuals inside the gate Courtyard II student apartment complex around midnight. The two suspects have been identified as Jabryson Monterio Burton, 21, of Columbus, and Kathrina Marie Campbell, of Ellerslie. Her age and photo were not released.

Campbell was arrested and charged with one felony county of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Burton remains missing and is wanted on charges of armed robbery, possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm in a school safety zone. Witnesses tell police that during the encounter Monday night at least one shot was fired into the air. No injuries were reported.

A old photo of Campbell was released by police Tuesday morning in hopes someone would recognize him and contact police.

Officials are still trying to determine how Burton, Campbell and their red Ford F150 pickup truck were able to gain access to the gate community.

Anyone with information related to this incident are asked to call University Police at 706-507-8911.
