Prosch comfortable as unsung hero

AUBURN, Ala. -

Jay Prosch isn't exactly complimentary of himself when asked to describe his role in the Auburn offense.

"Glorified offensive lineman" is the term he uses for himself.

Seems fitting, given that Prosch does not have a carry on the season, has caught just five passes and scored just one touchdown.

But even if the stat sheet doesn't show it, Prosch is the cattlepusher on freight train that is the Auburn rushing attack, clearing the way for Tre Mason (all the way to the Heisman Trophy ceremony), Corey Grant, Cameron Artis-Payne and others.

For the weight room junkie who stopped his bench press at 440 lbs. ("I didn't see the point in going any higher"), "fullback" suits him perfectly.

"I just take a lot of pride in what I do," Prosch said. "I feel like I'm the protector for the running back. My goal is, I don't want anybody to touch my running back, and I do everything I can, every play, to make sure that doesn't happen. For me, I just love the position."
