No eligibility issues expected with Tigers

Posted: Updated:
AUBURN, Ala. -

Seemingly every year, there is a story surfacing about a key player in the upcoming BCS National Championship game that has been declared academically ineligible.

Thankfully for the Auburn Tigers, it appears that if it happens in 2013, the story will not be written about them.

Gus Malzahn said on Saturday he does not expect any eligibility issues with the Tigers as they prepare to face Florida State for the national title on Jan. 6.

Also, straying from tradition, injured players will be making the road trip, something Auburn has not done this season.

Meanwhile, the healthy Tigers are continuing to familiarize themselves with Florida State. Malzahn says he's been impressed with their focus in the nearly month-long layoff between games.

"You've always got your guard up, your antennas up to see if there are any changes, if we're acting different than we normally have to get to this point," he said. "You don't see any of that. They're going about their business. They're preparing. They're still working hard."

After Saturday's workout, the Tigers had two more practices in Auburn before flying to Pasadena on Dec. 31.
