RDU travelers deal with flight delays, cancellations due to snow storm

MORRISVILLE, N.C. -

Most flights from Raleigh-Durham International Airport to the North east have either been delayed or canceled Friday morning due to snowstorm.

Flights connecting to Boston, Newark, La Guardia, JFK or Chicago have been hit hardest by delays and cancellations. Airline canceled a total of 2,300 flights due to snow fall and low visibility.

Check Flight Status

"Well it's what you get when you fly in the winter time. There's nothing we can do except for try to make sure people are informed their flights are on time so they can get where they need to go," said Andrew Sawyer, a spokesman for RDU.

Some of those affected by the snowstorm and flight delays are students heading back to school, like UNC Sophomore Sage Stahmer.

"I don't worry about the plane crashing or anything, I just worry about it not leaving. That's the biggest issue I have when flying, " said Stahmer.

RDU officials encourage anyone who may be traveling, to check the status of their flight on RDU's website.
