Tigers get ready for the biggest game of the season

Posted: Updated:

Call it luck, call it blessed, call it whatever you want, the Auburn Tigers aren't concerned with that.

Even though the two most miraculous of miracle finishes have put the Tigers in the championship game, the only thing they want to call it... is winning.

"We know deep down inside why we win games. If it happens like it happens at the end of the game, then oh well. We're just trying to win football games. All that matters at the end is the 'W,'" says Auburn Senior C Reese Dismukes.

It's a new coach returning a system that these players were born to play, sure.

But to listen to the coaches talk, it might be that and more, something not quite as easily measured as yards, points, touchdowns.

"They may get mad at us every now and then. I tell Nick and those guys at practice, there's probably going to be some days you don't like us. That's our job, though. We make sure these guys know we care about them a whole lot off the field," says Auburn Offensive Coordinator Rhett Lashlee.

"I'm going to trust these guys to get me into the end zone as many times as possible, because I'm sitting next to two bulldozers," says Auburn Junior RB Tre Mason.

Tre was sitting next to Reese Dismukes and C.J. Uzomah when he said that... Dismukes is often the first lineman to meet the ball carrier in the end zone after a touchdown... And Uzomah... With the game-ending catch against Mississippi State that really got this ride started.

"You know, I don't know. I can't explain it. Our guys have bought in. We get momentum in games a lot of times and it goes our way," says Lashlee.

Florida State is currently anywhere from a 7-and-a-half to eight-and-a-half point favorite... But being an underdog is nothing new for this Tiger team.
