Heart of “Auburn Family” still beating strong in Southern California

Posted: Updated:
All of us are human. We all have flaws, weaknesses, shortcomings; but with family, all of that is put aside, because there's something that brings us together that makes these things irrelevant. For the Auburn family, it's a bond that permeates hereditary ties -- even 2,000 miles from home.

“It's a family, the Auburn family supports each other,” says Bill Kendrick, an Auburn football season ticket holder since 1981. “These guys are great, they love Auburn football, they love playing for Auburn, it's been a magical season after what we went through last year, it's been a lot of fun to see them and watch them grow.”

It's a season that's brought together a community and revitalized a campus.

“You can see everybody's spirits lifting,” says Auburn sophomore Samantha Condron. “From the Georgia game and the Alabama game, there's just been so much spirit around campus, it's been so incredible to see all the students come together.

Thousands of Auburn fans have arrived in Southern California to cheer on their Tigers Monday night as they take on Florida State in the BCS National Championship -- fans who have never met act like they’ve known each other for years. Whether you're in Auburn, Alabama or California, yelling out "War Eagle" has the same effect.

“The Auburn family is just awesome to be around all the time and it's just so much fun to be around everybody and say 'War Eagle' to people across the country,” says Condron.

And if you don't understand the battle cry, Auburn fans say don't worry about it.

"It's an Auburn family thing," says Kendrick.
