Blount County Sheriff's Office suffers roof damage; apparent fire Wednesday

Posted: Updated:
A lot of emergency activity happened at the Blount County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday.

Sometime after lunch, there were reports of damage at the BCSO’s office in Oneonta.

According to the BCSO social media page, the Sheriff’s Office in Oneonta will be closed until further notice, due to a water line break in the roof.

The water leak led to the collapse of the roof over several offices in the Sheriff’s Office building.

The water also damaged the lobby, offices and computer equipment.

All telephone calls to the office were routed to the 911 Dispatch Center, and there was no disruption of service in deputies responding to calls.

Also, the fire department was called to the building, to investigate an apparent fire.

Sheriff Loyd Arrington says there was a smell like burning wires, and they were trying to find the source.
