Georgia man arrested for leaving son alone in freezing car while hunting

JACKSON COUNTY, AL - A Georgia man is out on bond after leaving his 5-year-old son alone in the car in sub-freezing temperatures while he hunted.

According to the Jackson County (Ala.) Sheriff's Office, the child was left alone in the car in Flat Rock while his father hunted. The child activated the car's OnStar system when he got cold. Authorities say the car's thermometer read 31 degrees when they arrived. At that time, the father was still out hunting.

Brandon Mark Chambers, 29, of Trenton, Ga., has been charged with endangering a child in connection with the incident. He posted $500 bond and was released. The child was released into his step-mother's custody.
