A key Congressman told NBC's "Meet the Press" that he had questions about how Eric Snowden landed in Russian hands so quickly after exposing American espionage tactics.

"I believe there's a reason he ended up in the hands, the loving arms, of an FSB agent in Moscow. I don't think that's a coincidence. … " said Mike Rogers, who chairs the House Intelligence Committee.

"You think the Russians helped Ed Snowden?" NBC's David Gregory asked.

"I believe there are questions to be answered there," said Rogers, a Republican from Michigan. "I don't think it was a gee-whiz luck event that he ended up in Moscow under the handling of the FSB."

The FSB is the Russian Federal Security Service and was created in 1994 as one of the successors to the KGB.

Rogers called Snowden "a thief, we believe had some help, who stole information the vast majority had nothing to do with privacy. Our Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines have been incredibly harmed by the data that he has taken with him and we believe now is in the hands of nation states."

Rogers and Sen. Dianne Feinstein, a Democrat from California who is chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, will appear on the show that airs Sunday, Jan. 19. "Meet the Press" airs at 10 a.m. on WNCN.
