Winter revisited

Posted: Updated:
Projected wind chill - early Wednesday Projected wind chill - early Wednesday

The seasonably mild weather we're enjoying on this Monday will provide only a brief intermission as we will return to our regularly scheduled winter weather rather quickly.

We sit today with westerly winds circulating around a high centered to our south in the Gulf.  That puts us ahead of and on the mild side of the next cold front expected to arrive Tuesday.  We won't feel the next shot of cold air very much until Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, despite winds that will be quite gusty on Tuesday. Wind chill will again be an issue, though this cold outbreak will fall short of the extreme cold we saw a couple of weeks ago.

Then we can wait for the next cold front expected to arrive Thursday, with only slight moderation expected ahead of it.  That front will ensure the cold will hang on through the end of the week.

Some potential for a winter storm in parts of the South may materialize by the weekend, though current forecasts keep all winter precipitation either well north of us, or nonexistent with rain staying well south.
