Alabama men's basketball fell at home to No. 6 Florida, 68-62, on Thursday night at Coleman Coliseum. With the loss, Alabama falls to 8-10 overall, 2-3 in the SEC, while Florida is now 16-2, 5-0 in the SEC.
Senior guard Trevor Releford led the team with 14 points, four assists, and two steals. Freshman forward Shannon Hale had 10 points, while junior guard Levi Randolph added 11 points off of the bench. Junior forward Nick Jacobs also contributed off the bench, earning 12 points.
The Gators were led by sophomore guard Michael Frazier who had 18 points, with 15 of them coming from beyond the three-point arc. Despite two Florida players having 11 rebounds, UA just lost the battle on the boards, 42-39. The Crimson Tide is now 1-8 when being out-rebounded by its opponent.
Alabama's biggest struggle was hitting three-pointers, where they shot just 16.7 percent (2-of-12) while Florida shot 35.7 percent (10-of-28).
This loss stops Alabama's home SEC winning streak at 14 games.
Alabama will end its two-game homestand when it hosts the LSU Tigers on Saturday at 7 p.m.
