Susan Moore High School coach facing sex charges involving student

Posted: Updated:
BLOUNT COUNTY, AL - A coach at Susan Moore High School now faces sex charges in connection with an incident that involved a student.

In December, Blount County schools superintendent Jim Carr said a high school coach was on administrative leave for a “classroom complaint” involving a student. When asked if the coach had been charged, Carr only said the incident was “under investigation”.

On Friday, Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey confirmed that warrants were issued against Warren Kelley, 42.  Kelley is coaches the girls’ basketball team at Susan Moore High School.

Casey says the parent of the student involved signed the warrant following the Blount County Sheriff’s Office’s investigation.  The accusation involves “inappropriate touching of a female student”.

It’s not clear whether Kelley has been arrested.  The charges he faces are misdemeanors.  Each has a $1,000 bond.

This was the second teacher at Susan Moore High School arrested in recent months. Crystal Clowdus was charged with sending inappropriate text messages in an unrelated case.  She was also placed on administrative leave.
