Former Alabama running back Mark Ingram spoke with Calera High students today about combining sports and financial education to help with the launch of a new educational video game called Financial Football. The game teaches students about saving money and building credit.
“Anything that I can do to give back to the youth,” Ingram said. “Financial education is huge, and the fact that their giving this to the youth right now, I think is very beneficial to them.”
Ingram also talked a little football today, comparing the 2008 and 2013 Alabama football teams. In 2008, the Tide went (12-0) before losing their final two games, including a loss to Utah in the Sugar Bowl.
This past year the Tide started the season (11-0) before losing at Auburn and in the Sugar Bowl, this time to Oklahoma. The 2009 Bama team went undefeated, and Ingram is hoping for the same in 2014.
"We had a bitter taste in our mouth," Ingram said while talking about the final two game of 2008. "After that game we took that to heart, and that whole offseason, and the next year we wasn't going to be denied." "Hopefully they have the same experience, and take away the same taste, and feeling we had."
