Posted: Updated:

With a narrow lead entering the final rotation, No. 14 Auburn came up just short 197.175-196.850 at No. 2 LSU despite recording the top road score in program history and best road score in 10 years.

The total score of 196.850 eclipses the previous record of 196.725 set at Centenary in 2004.

Auburn (1-2, 0-2) led 147.800-147.650 entering the last rotation, but LSU came through with a 49.525 on floor to move ahead of the Tigers and take the victory. Auburn recorded a season high total of 49.050 on balance beam led by a 9.875 from Caitlin Atkinson.

After five LSU vaulters totaled 49.400, Auburn began its rotation on uneven bars. Led by 9.875 from Megan Walker and a 9.900 from Atkinson, the Tigers turned in a 49.075 – the top bars score thus far in 2014.

Auburn posted a huge total on vault for the second-straight meet with a 49.425 as the Tigers jumped into the lead at the midway point of the meet with a two-event total of 98.500-98.475. Leading the way was a 9.975 from freshman MJ Rott.

Rott's mark equaled the school record set by Julie Dwyer in 2008. Auburn's 49.425 is the second-best vault score in program history moving past last week's 49.400 against Florida.

In floor exercise, Auburn recorded a team total of 49.300. Bri Guy and Atkinson both turned in scores of 9.900 in the third rotation along with a 9.85 from Rott. Brittany Webster and Lexus Demers both scored 9.825 as the Tigers held onto the lead moving into the final rotation.
