Alabama men's basketball defeated LSU, 82-80, Saturday night in a back-and-forth game at Coleman Coliseum. Senior guard Trevor Releford led the Crimson Tide with 21 points and two steals. Alabama is now 9-10 on the year, 3-3 in the SEC, while LSU falls to 12-6, 3-3 in conference play.
After falling behind 7-0 to open the game, Alabama went on a 24-2 scoring streak, including a 14-0 spurt during the run. The Tide led 36-23 at the half and held a 19-point lead with 17:04 remaining in the game. LSU was able to come all the way back and take a lead late in the game, but the Crimson Tide weren't down long as freshman forward Shannon Hale hit a go-ahead three pointer with 37 seconds remaining in the game.
Hale had career-highs of 17 points and six assists. Junior Rodney Cooper had 19 points, with 17 of those coming in the second half, along with a game-high six rebounds. Junior Levi Randolph added 14 points and two steals.
Prior to tonight's win, Alabama had lost 19-straight games when allowing 70 or more points. LSU was led by junior forward Johnny O'Bryant III who had 18 points and five rebounds.
