3 arrested in fatal Oneonta house fire

ONEONTA, AL - Three people have been arrested in an arson case in Oneonta.

The body of Donald Clayton Whited, 66, was found in his burned home off Ebell Road on Monday, January 13.  An autopsy ruled his death was a homicide.

The Blount County District Attorney announced three Oneonta residents were arrested in his death.

Kenneth Owen Whited, 58, was charged with Solicitation to Commit Capital Murder.  He posted a $150,000 property bond and was released from the Blount County Correctional Facility.

Jimmy Lane Maxwell, 58, was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Capital Murder.  He is in the Blount County Correctional Facility on $150,000 bond.

Pamela Ellen Rains, 54, was charged with Hindering Prosecution.  She is in the Blount County Correctional Facility.

District Attorney Pamela Casey says the case will be presented to a grand jury for further charges.

Casey commended the work of the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office, the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, and the Oneonta Police and Fire Departments for their work on the case.
