BIRMINGHAM, AL -
The UAB football team will open the 2014 season, at home, kicking off the year against in-state opponent Troy University at Legion Field on Aug. 30, Blazer officials announced on Monday.
UAB and Troy have played five consecutive seasons and have recently announced a two-year extension for the 2015 and 2016 season.
After the Troy match-up the Blazers will face Mississippi State on Sept. 6, traveling to Starkville, Miss., and will return to Legion Field the following weekend for another in-state bout against Alabama A&M.
After a Week-4 bye UAB will open Conference USA play against FIU at home on Sept. 27, then travel to Western Kentucky for more C-USA action on Oct. 4.
UAB and Western Kentucky will play for the first time since 1997 with the Blazers winning the last match-up (20-16) in Birmingham. The face-off will also be WKU's inaugural C-USA game.
The Blazers will return home from Bowling Green, Ky. to face North Texas for only the second time in school history on Oct. 11.
UAB will spend the next three weeks on the road going up against Middle Tennessee on Oct. 18, Arkansas on Oct. 25 and Florida Atlantic on Nov. 1.

On Nov. 8 the Blazers return to Birmingham to face off against Louisiana Tech with the two teams battling for victory for the first time since 1999.
After another open date on Nov. 15, UAB will play host to Marshall, last season's C-USA East Division champions, in their last C-USA home game of the regular season.
The Blazers will wrap up the regular season on the road against long-time conference rivals Southern Mississippi on Nov. 29.
