Center Point deadly shooting victim identified

CENTER POINT, AL - Authorities have released the name of the man shot and killed Sunday in Center Point.

The body of Morris Hill Witherspoon, Jr., 23, was discovered around 5:30 p.m. in the 400 block of 19th Terrace NE.

Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene after reports a several gun shots in the area.

Investigators are questioning some people involved in the incident who claimed the victim fired the first shot.

The case is still under investigation.
