TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, AL - A teenager who drowned while attempting to swim in a Tuscaloosa County lake has been identified as 14 year old Jaylen Davis-Williams.

The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, in an area off of New Asia Road in Coaling.

Investigators say Williams and another juvenile got into a boat near the lake, however the boat did not have a paddle.

After attempting to use their hands to paddle back to shore, both jumped out of the boat and began to swim.

Williams drowned while trying to make it back.

The Tuscaloosa Fire & Rescue dive unit located his body about 15-20 feet from the shore.

Authorities say there were no signs of foul play and are treating this investigation as an accidental drowning.
