TUSCALOOSA, AL -
Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox said the city is ready for whatever winter storm may head their way. He said they've learned from 2 weeks ago, and they have sand trucks that are loaded and ready to go.
Maddox said they have learned from a mistake made last time. The city is pre-positioning those sand trucks north and south of the Black Warrior River should they need to sand over any bridges that cross over the river.
Maddox said his staff has learned from past disaster experiences in this city. “There’s no doubt April twenty-seventh was such a tragedy for so many people, but you don't go through that experience without learning key lessons in emergency response,” Maddox added. The mayor said that they will have crews throughout the evening and in overnight hours testing road temperatures should there be an opportunity to put any pre-icing agents on the roads or bridges.
