Snow, sleet beginning to fall in parts of Jefferson County

Posted: Updated:
BIRMINGHAM, AL - There are new reports of slow and sleet in some areas in Jefferson County.

According to the Jefferson County EMA, the heaviest snowfall is expected sometime after 6 p.m. and will continue until midnight in the Birmingham metro area.

The entire county is expected to get snow but the northern half will get more than the southern half. Of course, ice could negatively impact roads and Power lines. Despite the anticipated snowfall of one to 2 inches, drivers should take this weather event seriously, stay safe, and stay off the roads.  It's still a waiting game to see how much snow Birmingham will actually get.
