Parkway Christian Academy evacuated, dismissed after gas leak

Posted: Updated:
BIRMINGHAM, AL - UPDATE: Students at Parkway Christian Academy have been released for the day after a gas leak prompted evacuation of their school.

School officials say the gas leak was in a stove in the school's kitchen/cafeteria area. The kids were moved to the Parkway Christian Fellowship Church as a precaution. They were released for the day, as the school has no way to feed the students without use of their kitchen.

Students at Parkway Christian Academy have been evacuated after a gas leak.

The school is located at 959 Huffman Road in Birmingham.

The students are being held across the street at Parkway Christian Fellowship Church.

Parents are asked to pick their children up immediately.

No injuries have been reported, and the gas has been shut off.
